Don't Just Stand There, Do Something!
Have you ever had someone encourage you? It could have been as simple as someone holding the door for you at the store or telling you how much they like your hair, those few words can make or break someone on any given day. I have had many people encourage me along the way and in honor of women’s day (aka: Mother’s Day) I want to present you with a challenge, a ten day challenge to be exact. I promise not to deprive you of your morning cup of java or make you do more squats than a platoon in combat training … are you with me yet? Great!
I want you to think of a woman whose path you cross frequently and commit to encouraging that woman for the next ten days. It could be a friend from college, an acquaintance on Facebook, or it may be someone whose name you don't even know. Maybe there is a woman you see each morning in the carpool line that seems overwhelmed (that may be most of us :), there is a reason why she has your attention.
You don’t have to be creepy, but get a little out of your comfort zone. If you know her well, ask her if there is anything specifically you can pray for her or send her a note of encouragement. If prayer is not your “thing” invite her out for a cup of coffee and let her talk, we can all use a shoulder to lean on or an ear to bend. There’s no right or wrong way to do it, JUST DO SOMETHING, your encouragement could be the light at the end of a tunnel.
So, spend the next few hours deciding who you want to encourage and then get to work! Commit to encouraging that woman from May 1st to May 10th, you can share your ideas with us on twitter @mylifealtered using the hashtag #wew (women encouraging women) or connect with us on Facebook and on our site www.mylifealtered.com
